Tiger Population Thrives In Ramnagar, Haldwani Areas

The Uttarakhand forest western circle accounts for 30 to 40 per cent of the total tigers in the state. This was revealed in the phase IV monitoring report on the status of tigers, habitats and corridors in the western circle. Poaching Alert: 76 Tigers Dead This Year

PUNE: As many as 76 tiger deaths have been reported in the country from January to October this year, with Madhya Pradesh at the top of the list, accounting for nearly a third of all mortalities. Karnataka, which boasts the highest tiger population among states, was in second spot with 13 deaths. KOLKATA: The number of big cats in the Indian Sunderbans is healthy and rising. A recent camera-trap exercise has spotted at least 9 more tigers over last year's figures in the entire mangroves, including the tiger reserve area and the South 24-Parganas forest division.
